Vietnam sweeps medals at International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics

Vietnam's delegation to the 2026 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics achieved a clean sweep, with all six representatives earning medals at the event held in Hanoi.

The gold medalists included Nguyen Tuan Kiet from Nguyen Hue High School for Gifted Students; Le Gia Hong Minh from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; and Le Ba Tuan Viet from the High School for Gifted Students under the University of Natural Sciences at Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Three additional gold medals went to Le Quang Tri from the High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, and Nguyen Quang Dung and Mai Van Khanh from Lam Son High School for the Gifted in Thanh Hoa province.

The performance underscores Vietnam's growing strength in science education and international academic competitions. The hosting of the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in Hanoi provided a significant opportunity for Vietnamese students to compete on the global stage.
