Vietnam and Tanzania are moving to strengthen economic and trade relations, with senior Vietnamese officials emphasizing the potential for expanded investment and business partnerships between the two countries.
Nguyen Hong Dien, Vice President of Vietnam's National Assembly, told participants at a business forum in Tanzania that the two economies offer significant complementary advantages. Tanzania possesses substantial natural resources, agricultural capacity, energy reserves and a strategic position serving East African markets, while Vietnam brings expertise in manufacturing, processing, high-technology agriculture, electronics, telecommunications and international trade.
The remarks came during the official visit as part of discussions under the Vietnam-Tanzania Joint Commission framework. Officials from both nations have underscored the need for practical cooperation mechanisms that would allow businesses to capitalize on these complementary strengths.
The forum represents an effort to move beyond diplomatic ties toward concrete commercial engagement. Both countries see potential in exploring sectoral partnerships and local-level cooperation that could benefit businesses and create new market opportunities in Southeast and East Africa.
Vietnam has intensified efforts to expand its economic footprint across Africa in recent years, while Tanzania seeks to diversify its international partnerships and attract foreign investment in key sectors including agriculture and manufacturing.
