The 16th National Assembly's second session has endorsed a comprehensive socio-economic development plan that charts Vietnam's economic trajectory through 2027. The framework establishes a per capita GDP target of approximately 6,100 USD, with an average consumer price index growth rate pegged at around 4.5 percent to balance expansion with price stability.

The plan prioritizes robust sectoral growth, with industry and construction targeted to expand by 12.2 percent annually, while manufacturing and processing sectors are projected to grow at 12.3 percent. These targets reflect the government's commitment to strengthening Vietnam's industrial base and maintaining competitive advantages in global supply chains.

Parliamentarians have also broadened the legislative calendar to address emerging governance challenges. The assembly plans to scrutinize proposed laws on data security, e-identification, and authentication mechanisms on November 4, reflecting mounting concerns over digital infrastructure protection and citizen identity management in an increasingly connected economy.

Additional legislative priorities include deliberation on removing time-limited suspensions of operations for certain corporate offences, signaling a potential shift in how authorities enforce compliance among business entities. These reforms aim to create a more predictable regulatory environment while maintaining oversight of corporate conduct.
