Vietnam is actively promoting investment opportunities across the entire green hydrogen value chain to European partners and international stakeholders. The country's trade representatives have identified renewable hydrogen production as a cornerstone priority, encompassing electrolysis technology, offshore wind-to-hydrogen conversion, green ammonia synthesis, and liquid hydrogen exports.
Beyond production, Vietnam is seeking investment in critical infrastructure to support hydrogen commercialization. This includes storage facilities, compression systems, pipeline networks, transport corridors, and port logistics capabilities essential for moving hydrogen products to regional and international markets.
Industrial applications represent another key focus area. Vietnam aims to accelerate decarbonization across heavy transport and shipping sectors through hydrogen fuel switching, while simultaneously developing hydrogen-based solutions for steel manufacturing, fertilizer production, chemical processing, cement production, and power generation.
The multi-pronged approach reflects Vietnam's broader energy transition strategy and comes amid growing international collaboration on hydrogen development. Recent bilateral initiatives with Germany and partnerships in provinces like Tay Ninh underscore the country's commitment to establishing itself as a competitive player in the emerging global hydrogen economy.
Experts note that Vietnam's abundant renewable energy resources, strategic geographic location, and manufacturing expertise position it favorably for hydrogen sector development, potentially opening new revenue streams including carbon credit exports.
