Vietnam to integrate all residents' health records into digital ID by 2027
Vietnam's health and security ministries are working to complete the integration of electronic health records into the national VNeID digital identification system for the entire population by mid-2027, according to a directive from the Party Central Committee's Office.

The integration project represents a significant step toward digitizing Vietnam's healthcare infrastructure, consolidating citizen health data within the VNeID platform that serves as the country's unified digital identity system. The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Public Security have been tasked with achieving 100% coverage of the population under the deadline set for June 30, 2027.
The initiative aims to streamline access to health information across the Vietnamese healthcare system, potentially improving service delivery and administrative efficiency. By linking electronic health records directly to VNeID, citizens and healthcare providers would be able to access medical histories and relevant health data more readily through a centralized digital platform.
The implementation timeline suggests a phased rollout over the coming years, though specific details regarding the stages of integration and technical infrastructure requirements have not been disclosed. The project will require coordination between multiple government agencies to ensure data security, privacy protection, and system compatibility across the healthcare sector.
The move aligns with Vietnam's broader digital transformation agenda, as the country has progressively expanded digital services and citizen identification systems in recent years. Successful completion of the health records integration could serve as a model for incorporating other citizen services into the VNeID ecosystem.
