Vietnam to launch inaugural Theatre Week in Paris with diverse performing arts

Vietnam's performing arts will take centre stage in Paris as the country launches its first-ever Theatre Week, marking a significant milestone in cultural exchange between the two nations. The event will showcase the breadth of Vietnamese theatrical traditions, presenting audiences with a diverse programme spanning multiple genres and performance styles.

The week-long showcase will feature water puppetry, a uniquely Vietnamese art form, alongside spoken drama and contemporary dance productions. Traditional theatrical genres including Tuong, the classical operatic form; Cheo, Vietnamese traditional opera; and Cai Luong, the reformed opera style, will also feature prominently in the programme.

The event reflects deepening cultural cooperation between Vietnam and France, as both nations work to strengthen bilateral ties and share expertise in developing their respective cultural industries. French cultural observers have noted that Vietnam-France relations are entering an "acceleration of history" period, with enhanced collaboration across multiple sectors including the arts and heritage preservation.

The Theatre Week represents an opportunity for Vietnamese artists to introduce international audiences to their theatrical heritage while fostering greater understanding between Vietnamese and French cultures. The showcase underscores the strategic importance both nations place on cultural diplomacy and creative industries as drivers of bilateral engagement.
