Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan and Vietnam's Finance Ministry delegation will participate in additional deliberations and hold bilateral meetings before officially accepting the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting chair at a closing ceremony on October 21, according to official announcements.
The handover represents a key responsibility for Vietnam within APEC's organizational framework, positioning the Southeast Asian nation to shape regional economic policy discussions throughout 2027. The Finance Ministers' Meeting serves as a crucial platform for coordinating monetary policy, financial stability initiatives, and economic cooperation among member economies.
In preparation for its chairmanship, Vietnam has already begun outlining its financial priorities for the APEC year ahead. The country has also drawn on experiences from previous chairs, including China, to develop comprehensive strategies for managing the forum's agenda and advancing regional economic integration.
Beyond traditional finance matters, Vietnam's agenda is expected to address emerging challenges facing the region. Governance of artificial intelligence and ensuring responsible, trustworthy deployment of AI technologies across the Asia-Pacific have emerged as priorities, reflecting growing concerns among member economies about managing technological advancement in the digital economy.
