Vietnam's partnership with UNESCO has matured into a substantive and dynamic collaboration framework, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Van, who highlighted the nation's changing role within the organization over the past 50 years. The Southeast Asian country has progressed from primarily receiving technical and financial assistance to serving as a proactive partner that drives initiatives and contributes meaningfully to regional and global UNESCO objectives.
The Asia-Pacific dialogue mechanism has emerged as a significant showcase of this strengthened cooperation, demonstrating Vietnam's capacity to lead within UNESCO's regional framework. The collaboration extends to Vietnam's diverse cultural heritage sites, as evidenced by recent UNESCO delegation visits to prominent locations such as the Trang An heritage complex in Ninh Binh, which reflects the organization's continued investment in Vietnam's preservation efforts.
Looking forward, UNESCO has confirmed its readiness to support Vietnam's implementation of the International Decade of Culture for Sustainable Development initiative. This commitment reflects shared priorities between the Vietnamese government and the international organization in leveraging cultural resources to address development challenges and enhance community resilience across the region.
