Vietnam's Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Hang met with Pamela Phan, former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia at the U.S. Department of Commerce, in Hanoi on October 15 to discuss strengthening bilateral economic relations.
During the talks, both sides emphasized the importance of promoting deeper business connections and advancing practical cooperation across trade and investment sectors. The meeting reflected efforts by both nations to leverage their growing partnership for mutual economic benefit.
The discussions come as Vietnam seeks to attract greater American business participation in its regional initiatives. Officials highlighted opportunities for high-tech investment and collaboration, including emerging areas such as quantum technology where the U.S. possesses significant expertise.
Vietnam is also working to encourage increased U.S. business engagement in activities related to its 2027 APEC Year presidency, positioning itself as a hub for regional economic cooperation and investment.
The strengthening of economic ties between Hanoi and Washington reflects a broader effort to deepen the bilateral relationship beyond diplomatic channels, with trade and investment serving as key pillars of strategic partnership.
