Vietnam, US deepen economic partnership with focus on high-tech investment

Vietnam views the United States as a leading strategic partner and is committed to strengthening economic and trade relations through concrete investments and business collaboration, according to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang. The Vietnamese official stressed that both nations should work to advance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in ways that deliver tangible benefits to citizens and enterprises on both sides.

High-technology investment has emerged as a priority area for bilateral cooperation. Vietnam is encouraging greater participation from American companies in initiatives aimed at developing quantum technology and advanced sectors, with particular emphasis on security applications and workforce development. The focus reflects both countries' recognition that emerging technologies will play a crucial role in regional economic competitiveness.

The deepening of economic ties comes as Vietnam prepares to host APEC activities in 2027. Officials have signaled that Vietnam welcomes increased American business engagement throughout the year-long initiative, viewing it as an opportunity to strengthen commercial partnerships and demonstrate the breadth of US-Vietnam economic cooperation to the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Bilateral trade and investment have grown substantially in recent years, with American companies establishing significant operations across Vietnamese manufacturing, technology, and services sectors. Both governments are exploring additional mechanisms to facilitate investment flows and ensure a stable business environment that attracts multinational enterprises seeking alternatives to traditional supply chain hubs.
