Vietnam has been honored with the 2026 Government Leadership Award, recognizing the nation's strategic initiatives to advance digital transformation across policy, institutional development, and infrastructure sectors.

The accolade reflects Vietnam's sustained commitment to building a digitally enabled economy and society. Key foundations for this progress include the 2023 Telecommunications Law and Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, which establishes breakthrough objectives in science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

These policy frameworks have positioned digital infrastructure as a critical pillar supporting both economic growth and social development. The initiatives align with Vietnam's broader efforts to enhance public service delivery and institutional effectiveness through technology adoption.

The award comes as Vietnam intensifies cooperation with international organizations and other nations on digital governance matters. Recent developments include the country hosting the first-ever GSMA Digital Nation Summit and expanding collaboration with the United Nations on information and communications technology initiatives.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City has launched three digital transformation models aimed at improving public service delivery, representing a practical implementation of the national strategy at the municipal level.
