Vietnamese and Swiss leaders take evening walk around Hanoi's Hoan Kiem Lake

Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly welcomed Swiss President Guy Parmelin and his spouse Caroline Parmelin to Hanoi's iconic waterfront on October 17. The two leaders and their companions walked together along the pedestrian paths encircling Hoan Kiem Lake, one of the Vietnamese capital's most recognizable landmarks, in a relaxed diplomatic setting.

The evening stroll came as part of an official visit by the Swiss delegation to Vietnam, reflecting warming bilateral ties between the two nations. The leisurely walk around the lake, a popular gathering spot for Hanoi residents, provided an opportunity for the leaders to engage in informal discussion away from formal state protocols.

The visit underscores Switzerland's continued engagement with Vietnam across economic, political and cultural dimensions. Such personal interactions between high-level officials often serve to strengthen diplomatic relationships and facilitate dialogue on matters of mutual interest between the two countries.
