Vietnamese businesses turn AI investments into measurable returns

Artificial intelligence has emerged as a strategic priority for Vietnamese businesses, with 69% of surveyed companies ranking it as a high or top priority. Looking ahead, 84% of respondents expect their use of AI to increase over the next 12 months, signaling sustained commitment to the technology across the business landscape.

While many companies remain in early-stage development, the financial case for AI adoption is already proving sound. Among businesses that have implemented AI solutions, 71% reported that their investments have either broken even or generated measurable returns. This financial validation is encouraging broader adoption despite 61% of current adopters still operating in the experimentation phase.

Government support is reinforcing this momentum. Vietnam is offering financial incentives of up to $150,000 to accelerate enterprise AI adoption, reflecting official commitment to positioning the nation as a regional technology leader. The financial services sector is at the forefront of this shift, with banks and fintech companies increasingly integrating AI into operations.

However, experts caution that rapid AI deployment requires careful consideration of sector-specific needs. In cultural industries particularly, specialists have urged a balanced approach to ensure AI complements rather than displaces human creativity and cultural values. The consensus among analysts is that Vietnam's AI opportunity lies in thoughtful, measured implementation that maximizes both technological benefits and societal outcomes.
