The Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe (UVAE) has outlined an ambitious five-year plan centered on three pillars: youth engagement, business development, and cultural identity, marking a decade of efforts to unify Vietnamese communities across the continent.
UVAE Chairman Hoang Dinh Thang emphasized the organization's role as a vital hub for Vietnamese diaspora communities, working to preserve cultural heritage while facilitating integration into host societies. The union has long positioned overseas Vietnamese as bridges for knowledge and technology transfer back to Vietnam, supporting both individual advancement and national development objectives.
The agenda includes establishing learning platforms designed to help younger overseas Vietnamese strengthen their connection to the Vietnamese language and cultural traditions. These initiatives address concerns about cultural continuity among second and third-generation diaspora members who may lack deep ties to their ancestral homeland.
A centerpiece of the strategy is the Vietnam Summer Camp 2026, which will bring young overseas Vietnamese together to deepen their bond with the country through immersive cultural experiences. The program reflects the union's conviction that sustained engagement with Vietnam's cultural heritage strengthens identity and fosters lasting connections to the diaspora's roots.
