Quang Tri province has launched a pilot program for an AI-powered 'People's Assistant' service, marking a practical step in Vietnam's digital transformation agenda. The system, running through October at the provincial Public Administration Service Centre and satellite offices in Dong Thuan and Dong Ha wards, provides automated guidance on administrative procedures, required documentation, applicable fees, and form submissions. The platform also supports preliminary document verification and declaration processing, reducing wait times and simplifying access to government services for residents.
The initiative reflects broader recognition among Vietnamese policymakers that data and technology infrastructure are essential for modernizing public administration. Experts have highlighted the importance of strengthening data governance frameworks to support digital initiatives, with discussions underway at the National Assembly Standing Committee regarding a comprehensive draft data security law.
Beyond public administration, technology's application extends to maritime governance and strategic emerging fields. Specialists have identified data management and advanced technologies as critical tools for enhancing Vietnam's marine resource oversight and environmental protection efforts. Additionally, development of domestic quantum technology capabilities has been flagged as requiring coordinated ecosystem support, with international experts noting that mastering quantum applications demands sustained investment in research infrastructure and skilled workforce development.
As Vietnam accelerates its digital transformation across government and economic sectors, the integration of artificial intelligence, data analytics, and emerging technologies is positioning the country to improve service delivery, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and enhance competitive advantages in technology-driven industries.
