A senior Cambodian official said the Vietnamese Prime Minister's upcoming visit will focus on implementing strategic guidance agreed upon in February between Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen and Vietnamese Communist Party General Secretary and President To Lam.

Dr. So Naro, Cambodia's Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister overseeing ASEAN Affairs, indicated the trip will provide an opportunity for the two prime ministers to exchange views on pressing global and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.

The visit comes as Vietnam and Cambodia prepare to commemorate six decades of diplomatic relations in 2027. Both countries have identified three priority areas aimed at achieving a 20 billion USD bilateral trade target, reflecting their ambition to expand economic cooperation substantially.

Diplomatic officials have characterized the expected outcomes of the visit as contributing to more substantive and effective relations between the two Southeast Asian neighbors. The engagement reflects broader efforts by Vietnam to deepen ties with Cambodia and Laos, consolidating cooperation across the region.
