Vigilance Bureau seizes over 400 bags of PDS rice in Andhra Pradesh

Vigilance Bureau personnel conducted a raid in Rajamahendravaram, recovering 423 bags of rice that were allegedly diverted from the Public Distribution System (PDS). The operation marks the latest in a series of enforcement actions targeting irregularities in the state's food grain distribution network.

The seizure points to persistent challenges in securing PDS supplies meant for below-poverty-line households across Andhra Pradesh. Such diversions, whether for private sale or other unauthorized purposes, undermine the targeted delivery of subsidized foodgrains to vulnerable populations.

Vendors and officials involved in the grain supply chain have faced increased scrutiny in recent months as authorities intensify efforts to prevent leakages from the PDS. The recovered rice will likely be returned to the official distribution system pending further investigation.
