Vijayan denies wrongdoing as Kerala government faces ED pressure in CMRL case
Former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has rejected allegations linking him and his family to financial irregularities in the CMRL matter, asserting that all transactions were conducted through legitimate banking channels and remain fully tax-compliant.

Vijayan adopted a combative stance while the state government deliberates on responding to the Enforcement Directorate's demands to implicate him and family members in the CMRL case. The former chief minister maintained that his daughter's financial dealings with CMRL were entirely above board and conducted through formal banking procedures, with all tax obligations met.
The ED's examination into the matter has not yielded any evidence of wrongdoing, Vijayan contended, characterizing the agency's fresh allegations as politically motivated. He suggested the ED was pursuing a new strategy to satisfy the political objectives of its overseers, leveling what he described as baseless accusations to the state's Special Public Prosecutor.
The dispute centers on financial transactions between Vijayan's family and the Cochin Munjiyettu Resorts and Leisure facility. Vijayan's assertions challenge the ED's efforts to establish culpability, while the Kerala government weighs its legal response to the agency's demands.
