Vijayawada's Kanaka Durga Temple Draws Nearly 18.3 Lakh Devotees During Dasara

The Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada has attracted approximately 18.29 lakh devotees since Dasara festivities commenced, reflecting the religious significance of the annual celebration in Andhra Pradesh. The temple administration has been managing the unprecedented pilgrim footfall with organised distribution of prasadam and other offerings.

According to temple officials, the shrine has distributed 39.84 lakh laddus to devotees throughout the Dasara period, underscoring the scale of religious observance at the venue. The distribution of annaprasadam—the ritual blessed food offering—has reached 8,37,385 people so far, demonstrating the temple's extensive community engagement during the festival season.

The Kanaka Durga Temple, situated on the banks of the Krishna River, is among South India's most significant Shakti shrines and attracts considerable devotional traffic during major Hindu festivals. Dasara, celebrated across India to mark the victory of good over evil, draws particularly large congregations at temples dedicated to Goddess Durga and her manifestations.

The temple's capacity to serve large numbers of pilgrims while distributing blessed offerings reflects both the organisational efforts of the administration and the enduring spiritual pull of the festival among devotees across the region. Officials continue to oversee arrangements to accommodate the ongoing pilgrim visits during the remainder of the Dasara period.
