Elections to the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) have been postponed in agency mandals due to persistent heavy rainfall in the region. The election commission took the decision to defer the polls after assessing ground conditions and logistical challenges posed by the adverse weather.
Official sources indicated that the downpour has created significant obstacles for election officials and voters alike, rendering many areas inaccessible and hampering the deployment of election machinery. The agency mandals, which comprise tribal and hilly terrain, are particularly vulnerable to connectivity disruptions during monsoon conditions.
Election authorities have assured that revised poll schedules will be released after weather conditions improve and proper arrangements can be made to ensure smooth and orderly elections. Officials stated that the postponement is a precautionary measure to guarantee that voters can participate safely and that the election process can be conducted in compliance with all statutory requirements.
The move comes as several southern Indian states have witnessed disruptions to civic processes due to the ongoing monsoon season, which typically extends through the region during this period.
