Village leader shot dead in Sultan Kudarat; motive unclear

Datu Manalao Mangelen Nur Sr., chairperson of Barangay Dados in Datu Odin Sinsuat town, was fatally shot while traveling in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, authorities confirmed Monday.
Maj. Jeffrey Lazaro, chief of the Esperanza Municipal Police Station, reported that the incident occurred on Sunday. Further details regarding the circumstances of the shooting, including the number of suspects and the weapon used, were not immediately disclosed.
The death marks another instance of violence targeting local government officials in the conflict-affected Mindanao region. Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the attack or identified those responsible.
The case has been turned over to the regional police investigation unit for further inquiry. Police urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
