VinFast names founder's son as global chief executive

Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has appointed Pham Nhat Quan Anh, the eldest son of founder Pham Nhat Vuong, to the position of global chief executive, consolidating leadership within the automotive group's highest ranks.

Anh, who previously assumed the role of global chairman in May, will retain that position while also serving as chairman and chief executive of VinFast Vietnam, the company's domestic operations hub. The appointment underscores the automotive manufacturer's strategy of centralizing control under family leadership.

The move comes as VinFast navigates the competitive electric vehicle market, where it has been pursuing international expansion alongside domestic operations. The company has faced challenges in scaling production and managing costs as it competes globally.

VinFast, which emerged from the larger Vingroup conglomerate, has positioned itself as a challenger in the EV sector with vehicles targeted at multiple market segments. The leadership consolidation signals a clear strategic direction under the founder's family stewardship as the company pursues its growth objectives across regional and international markets.
