Violence erupts at Delhi University before student union polls

Violent confrontations broke out between two competing student factions at Delhi University's North Campus on Monday, just hours before voting was scheduled to begin in the annual student union elections. The altercation, which involved physical attacks among students, resulted in at least one person sustaining serious injuries requiring medical attention.

Following the incident, university authorities and Delhi Police moved swiftly to fortify security measures across the campus. Paramilitary personnel were deployed to key locations to prevent further escalation and maintain order during the electoral process.

DCP Niharika Bhatt, who visited the campus to assess the situation, confirmed that security protocols had been activated in response to the outbreak. The clash marks a troubling prelude to what university officials had anticipated would be a peaceful election cycle.
