Violence erupts during Ganesh procession in Maharashtra's Titwala

Communal tensions flared in Titwala, a town in Thane district, during a Ganesh Chaturthi immersion procession when members of two rival groups engaged in violent confrontations on Tuesday. The clash resulted in scuffles and stone-throwing, disrupting what is typically a major religious festival celebration in the region.

Police arrived at the scene promptly and brought the situation under control before the violence could escalate further. Authorities registered first information reports (FIRs) against more than 40 individuals from both groups involved in the altercation. The police action prevented further bloodshed and restored normalcy in the area within hours.

While the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest the clash was rooted in local grievances between the two factions. Notably, the involvement of local political figures in the violence has drawn scrutiny from authorities.
