The University of Malaya student who recently went viral on social media has firmly ruled out any plans to pursue a political career, citing her discomfort with public attention. In a statement addressing speculation about her future direction, Ummi said she was content to remain outside the political arena and valued her privacy away from the glare of public scrutiny.
The undergraduate has faced increased media interest following her emergence in public discourse, but she made clear that heightened visibility was not something she welcomed. "I don't like the attention," she said, signalling her intention to step back from the spotlight rather than capitalise on her newfound prominence.
Beyond her personal plans, Ummi also took aim at panellists and public figures for their handling of substantive governance matters. She expressed frustration that discussions on corruption and related issues had not received adequately thorough or satisfactory responses from those in positions to address them, suggesting a gap between public expectations and actual engagement with critical social concerns.
Her comments reflect broader concerns among younger Malaysians about accountability and transparency in governance, even as she distances herself from any direct political involvement.
