Vizag imposes overnight traffic curbs for Agniveer recruitment drive

The Visakhapatnam Police have announced overnight traffic restrictions on the city's Beach Road to accommodate preparations for the Agniveer recruitment rally. Vehicular movement between Park Hotel Junction and NTR Circle will be prohibited from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily until September 20.

The restrictions aim to ensure smooth logistics and crowd management for the recruitment drive, which forms part of the Indian Armed Forces' Agniveer Scheme. The scheme, introduced to enhance military recruitment processes, has seen multiple rallies conducted across regional centers in recent months.

Commuters and residents have been advised to use alternate routes during the restricted hours. The police have urged vehicle owners to plan their journeys accordingly to avoid congestion and delays on affected stretches of the busy coastal thoroughfare.

Authorities have assured that the temporary restrictions will not hamper essential services, with emergency vehicles granted passage during the nighttime closure period. The measure is expected to conclude after September 20 once recruitment activities conclude.
