Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy has issued orders to GMR Airports Limited to repair roads that have deteriorated due to construction activities at the upcoming Bhogapuram airport project in Andhra Pradesh.
In addition to the repair directive, the collector has asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to establish proper connectivity between the airport and the service roads of the existing highway network. This move aims to ensure seamless access to the airport infrastructure upon completion.
NHAI has indicated that the necessary modifications to highway connectivity will be completed within a couple of weeks. The development follows reports highlighting the road conditions around the airport construction zone.
The Bhogapuram airport, being developed as a major aviation hub in the region, has been a significant infrastructure project. The collector's intervention underscores the need to balance development activities with maintenance of existing public infrastructure in the surrounding areas.
The coordinated action between the collector's office, GMR Airports, and NHAI is expected to address both the immediate road repair issues and the long-term connectivity requirements for the airport project.
