Volkswagen issues global recall for 2.9 million vehicles over steering defect

Volkswagen Group has announced a major global recall covering approximately 2.9 million vehicles due to concerns over steering system reliability. The recall affects multiple models from both the Volkswagen and Audi brands that were produced across an extended manufacturing window.

The affected Volkswagen models include the Tiguan, Touran, Golf, and Caddy vehicles manufactured between 2013 and 2024. Additionally, around 700,000 Audi models built from 2017 to 2024 are included in the recall programme.

The recall addresses a potential steering risk that could affect vehicle safety and handling. Volkswagen Group has not disclosed specific details regarding the nature of the steering defect or the circumstances under which it may occur.
