MANILA — The impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte will pause next week as the prosecution prepares to file its formal offer of evidence, the Senate Impeachment Clerk of Court announced Monday.

Atty. Renato Bantug confirmed the suspension will begin Wednesday, October 14, giving the prosecution additional time to compile and present its case materials to the court.

The adjournment is a standard procedural step in impeachment proceedings, allowing the prosecution to organize and formally submit all evidence supporting the charges against the Vice President before the trial continues.

No trial sessions are scheduled during the suspension period. The Senate will reconvene proceedings once the prosecution's evidence submission is complete and the court determines the next phase of the trial.

The impeachment case against Duterte centers on allegations that prompted the filing of charges earlier this year. The trial began following the Senate's acceptance of the impeachment complaint and completion of preliminary procedures.
