VTU mandates reserved hours for student grievance redressal at engineering colleges

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has issued new guidelines requiring principals of affiliated engineering colleges to set aside regular time slots for direct student engagement and grievance redressal.

The directive aims to strengthen institutional mechanisms for addressing student concerns and improving communication between college leadership and the student body. By establishing dedicated interaction hours, the university seeks to create a more accessible channel for students to raise issues and seek timely resolutions.

Under the new framework, colleges must maintain a formal grievance log book where principals are required to document each complaint or query received from students. The log must include the date of submission, a concise description of the grievance or question, and details of the action taken or resolution provided, where applicable.

The record-keeping requirement is designed to ensure accountability and transparency in the grievance redressal process. By maintaining comprehensive documentation, colleges will be able to track patterns in student concerns and demonstrate their responsiveness to institutional issues.
