The West Coast Expressway (WCE) staged an unannounced emergency simulation at kilometre 216.6 northbound to assess the effectiveness of its crisis response protocols and the preparedness of participating agencies.
The drill, which engaged multiple emergency response teams and government agencies, was designed to test coordination mechanisms and decision-making processes in real-time conditions. The exercise involved three vehicles positioned at the test site to simulate an actual incident scenario.
Such surprise exercises are standard practice among highway operators and emergency management authorities across the region. They provide valuable insights into response times, inter-agency communication gaps, and operational bottlenecks that may exist during genuine emergencies.
The simulation aimed to identify areas for improvement in emergency protocols and ensure that all participating agencies can seamlessly coordinate their efforts during critical situations on the expressway. The findings from the drill will be compiled for further review and refinement of existing procedures.
Regular no-notice drills help maintain operational readiness and ensure that emergency responders remain prepared to handle incidents effectively, ultimately enhancing safety for expressway users.
