Many visually impaired passengers have expressed a preference for hands-free solutions that allow them to maintain better balance and stability while using public transportation. Current alternatives often require users to hold a smartphone or other device, which can be awkward or impractical during commutes, particularly in crowded conditions.

The pendant operates by communicating with bus location systems and GPS technology to determine when a vehicle is approaching a user's designated stop. Once the bus is near, the device triggers a discrete notification, such as a vibration or audio alert, allowing the wearer to prepare for boarding without needing visual confirmation.

Developers indicate the technology could be integrated into existing public transport infrastructure with minimal modifications. As cities across South and Southeast Asia work to improve accessibility in their transit systems, such innovations may provide templates for broader adoption of assistive technologies in urban commuting.
