Weather bureau warns of possible tropical depression development within 24 hours
The Philippine state weather bureau has flagged a low-pressure area east of the country as having a high likelihood of strengthening into a tropical depression. The system remains outside Philippine territory but warrants close monitoring.

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday that a low-pressure area being tracked beyond the Philippine area of responsibility faces favorable conditions for tropical depression formation within the next 24 hours.
Pagesa weather specialist Benison Estareja indicated the system was last observed more than 3,500 kilometers east of the archipelago, placing it well outside the country's meteorological zone of responsibility.
The bureau classified the development potential as "high" based on current atmospheric conditions. Officials did not immediately specify whether the system posed a threat to Philippine landmass or when it might potentially impact the region.
