A military transport aircraft scheduled to fly 51 human trafficking victims from Pagadian City to Manila was forced to remain on the ground Tuesday as severe weather swept across the region. The passengers—comprising 49 Chinese nationals, one Cambodian citizen, and one Filipino—were among those liberated during coordinated raids on illegal offshore gaming operations in Zamboanga Sibugay province.

The National Bureau of Investigation led the rescue and transfer operation, which targeted criminal networks operating unlicensed gaming platforms in the southern Philippines. The trafficking victims had been held at various locations associated with the illegal gaming enterprises before authorities secured their release.

Military officials indicated the flight would proceed to Manila once weather conditions improved, with the passengers expected to receive assistance and support services upon arrival. The transfer represents part of broader law enforcement efforts to dismantle human trafficking networks operating under the cover of illegal gambling operations throughout Mindanao.

The incident underscores the connection between organized gaming operations and human trafficking in the region, with authorities continuing investigations into the criminal syndicates responsible for both activities.
