A low pressure area entered the Philippine area of responsibility early Thursday, bringing weather officials under close watch as the system develops, the state weather bureau reported. The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration indicated the weather disturbance could strengthen into a tropical depression within 48 hours. Weather specialist Leanne Loreto provided the assessment in the agency's 5 a.m. forecast bulletin on the emerging system. The agency said it would continue monitoring the low pressure area's movement and intensity as it traverses the Philippine waters. Residents in affected regions are advised to monitor weather updates from the state weather bureau for any further developments or advisories.
