Weather system intensifying; depression likely to hit Andhra coast Nov 2
A low-pressure system over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has consolidated into a well-marked formation and is expected to develop into a depression before reaching the Andhra Pradesh coast by early evening on November 2, the India Meteorological Department said on Saturday.

The weather system, which has been tracking in a west-north-westward direction, is anticipated to strengthen into a depression over the next 12 hours, according to the IMD's morning bulletin released Saturday. A depression represents a weather phenomenon that is more severe than low-pressure conditions but less intense than a full cyclonic storm.
Manorama Mohanty, director of the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre, said the IMD is closely monitoring the system's progression. "We are tracking the system's movement and will provide updates as the situation develops," Mohanty said, noting that detailed impact assessments for affected coastal regions remain under evaluation.
The system's advance west-north-westward trajectory has placed Andhra Pradesh in the projected path. Authorities in the state and neighboring regions are being kept informed as the weather pattern intensifies, with updated forecasts expected as the system approaches the coast. The IMD continues to monitor atmospheric conditions to refine predictions about the system's intensity and exact landfall timing.
