The National Stock Exchange's revenue model is heavily dependent on weekly options, which account for 42 per cent of the bourse's income, according to NSE Chief Executive Officer Ashishkumar Chauhan. The remaining 58 per cent of revenue is generated through monthly options, futures contracts and other trading products. Weekly options have emerged as a significant revenue driver for the exchange since their introduction, reflecting growing investor participation in short-term derivative trading. Chauhan emphasized that the Securities and Exchange Board of India, the market regulator, has not raised objections to monthly options trading. The remarks come amid ongoing industry discussions about the role of derivatives in India's capital markets and their contribution to overall market liquidity. The exchange continues to expand its product offerings to cater to diverse investor preferences and risk management strategies.
