Welsh Football Club Wrexham Gets Approval for Major Stadium Expansion

Wrexham AFC has received planning approval for a significant expansion of its Kop Stand at the Racecourse Ground, one of the world's oldest purpose-built football stadiums. The new stand will accommodate 7,750 spectators, bringing the overall stadium capacity to more than 18,000.

Construction on the new Kop Stand commenced in December 2025, with completion expected by early 2027. The expansion represents a major investment in the club's infrastructure and reflects ambitions to enhance the venue's capability for hosting premier football competitions.

The capacity increase is intended to elevate the Racecourse Ground's status as a potential host venue for international football matches and other major sporting events. The enhancement comes as Wrexham continues to invest in modernizing its facilities following the club's return to the English Football League in 2024.

The project marks one of the most substantial ground improvements at the Wrexham facility in recent years, positioning the historic stadium for a new era of expanded operations and hosting capabilities.
