Wesley College pulled off a significant upset on Tuesday, defeating unbeaten Richmond via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method to claim one of four semifinal spots in the Under 19 Division I Tier A tournament. The result ended Richmond's impressive run through the competition and marked Wesley's emergence as a contender in the youth cricket championship.

Mahanama College, Colombo and Nalanda College, Colombo secured their places in the last four through convincing victories in their respective quarterfinal matches. Mahanama demonstrated commanding form, restricting St. Joseph's to a meagre 84 runs before securing a comprehensive win.

The three victorious teams now advance to the semifinal stage of the tournament, where they will compete for places in the final. Wesley's success against the favoured Richmond outfit is likely to inject fresh momentum into their campaign, while Mahanama and Nalanda carry strong form into the next phase of the competition.

Tuesday's results have set the stage for competitive semifinal encounters, with the tournament reaching its decisive phase.
