West Bengal's Chief Minister has issued an apology after a government advertisement mistakenly depicted the goddess Durga with 11 hands instead of the traditional 10, drawing public attention to the religious imagery error.

The Chief Minister of West Bengal acknowledged the mistake in a public statement, saying: "As the CM of West Bengal, I apologise for the error. The people responsible have received a stern warning. In the future, the Government will be careful."
The advertisement, released by the West Bengal government, contained the iconographic error regarding one of Hinduism's most revered deities. Durga is traditionally depicted with ten hands, each bearing different weapons and symbolic objects, representing her power to vanquish evil.
The incident prompted swift corrective action from the state administration. Officials confirmed that those involved in creating and approving the advertisement have been issued formal warnings to prevent similar lapses in the future.
