West Bengal's Chief Minister has provided assurances to Indian Oil Corporation regarding land allocation for its planned expansion initiative at the Haldia refinery complex, signalling the state government's commitment to backing energy sector development.
The pledge underscores West Bengal's importance as a hub for hydrocarbon processing and refining in eastern India. The state is currently home to significant petroleum infrastructure that serves demand across the eastern and northeastern regions.
State officials revealed that public sector oil and gas companies are executing projects valued at ₹17,600 crore across West Bengal, demonstrating substantial investment momentum in the energy sector. These initiatives span exploration, refining, and downstream operations.
The state's selection to host India Energy Week 2027 further reinforces its strategic position in the nation's energy landscape.
