NEW DELHI — West Indies captain Shai Hope has claimed his third Player of the Match award during the team's ongoing tour of India, a run of individual accolades that prompted the batsman to quip about luggage limitations.
Hope's consistent performances have seen him recognised by match officials on multiple occasions throughout the series, underlining his significance to the Caribbean side's efforts against their hosts.
The captain's tongue-in-cheek remark about excess baggage fees highlights the frequency with which he has been singled out for praise, though it underscores a more serious point about his contributions with the bat.
Hope's form comes at a crucial juncture for the West Indies, as the team seeks to maintain competitiveness in a demanding tour of India. His repeated individual honours suggest the West Indies are relying heavily on his batting prowess to remain competitive in the series.
