Shai Hope's match-winning 102 not out powered West Indies to an improbable victory in Ranchi, as the visitors overhauled India's total with clinical precision in Friday's second Twenty20 International. Hope's unbeaten knock anchored the West Indies chase, demonstrating composure under pressure as his team pursued a demanding target to level the series.
The captain's performance marked a significant turnaround for West Indies, who assembled their highest successful T20I chase against India in the process. Hope's century was instrumental in building partnerships that carried the team through critical phases of the innings, negating India's bowling attack across the middle and death overs.
The six-wicket victory represents a substantial achievement for West Indies in the bilateral series, halting India's momentum and forcing a reset in the contest. Hope's leadership at the crease reflected West Indies' determination to compete at the highest level against the host nation.
The two teams will now look ahead to the remaining matches in the series, with West Indies buoyed by their impressive chase and India seeking to regain their footing in the competition.
