ILOILO CITY — The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) reported a marked improvement in public safety across Western Visayas, with major crime incidents falling substantially when compared to the same period the previous year.
According to comparative crime data released by PRO6 on Tuesday, Aug. 25, the region logged a 22.84-percent reduction in eight focus crimes from May 22 to Aug. 22. Police officials attributed the improvement to sustained enforcement operations and community policing initiatives implemented throughout the region.
The decline encompasses several major crime categories that have been prioritized by law enforcement agencies as part of broader efforts to enhance public security and maintain peace and order in the region's key urban and provincial areas.
Police Regional Office 6 covers the provinces and cities of Western Visayas, including Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo province, and Iloilo City. The latest figures underscore ongoing police efforts to reduce criminality and improve the safety situation in one of the country's key economic regions.
