Wet weather to persist across western and central regions

A low-level atmospheric disturbance is moving away from Sri Lanka, with its influence expected to diminish progressively, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers and thundershowers are forecast to occur intermittently across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces on Monday, September 16. Residents in these areas should remain alert for wet conditions throughout the day.
The meteorological department has warned of fairly heavy rainfall, with accumulations around 75 millimetres anticipated at some locations. Communities in affected regions are advised to take appropriate precautions against potential flooding and landslides during the period of unsettled weather.
As the atmospheric system gradually moves offshore, conditions are expected to improve in the coming days, though residents should monitor official weather updates for any changes to the forecast.
