Widespread afternoon showers forecast across island today
The Department of Meteorology has issued forecasts for scattered rainfall across multiple provinces and districts throughout Wednesday. Residents in western and southern regions should expect the heaviest shower activity.

Several spells of showers are expected to sweep across the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces as well as the Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon and evening hours on Wednesday, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Isolated showers may also develop in the North-Western Province, with a higher probability of rainfall expected in the Central, Uva, and Eastern provinces. The meteorological department further anticipates showers or thundershowers at scattered locations in Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts.
Residents and commuters are advised to remain alert to weather updates and take necessary precautions as afternoon thundershower activity is likely to peak during late afternoon hours. The rainfall, while generally beneficial for water resources, may cause localized traffic disruptions in affected areas.
