Showers and thundershowers are expected to develop across most parts of Sri Lanka from 1.00 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Department of Meteorology's latest weather bulletin. The weather system is anticipated to bring moderate to heavy precipitation to several districts and provinces throughout the afternoon and evening.
The Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North-Western provinces face the highest risk of significant rainfall, with forecasters warning of fairly heavy falls in these areas. Additionally, the districts of Galle, Matara, Anuradhapura, and Mannar are expected to receive substantial amounts of rain, with some locations potentially recording around 75 millimetres or more.
The general public has been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions in light of the anticipated weather conditions. Residents in affected areas should be prepared for potential disruptions to daily activities and remain vigilant of localized flooding risks, particularly in low-lying regions and areas prone to water accumulation.
