Widespread showers expected across Sri Lanka this afternoon
The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers and thundershowers across most parts of the island from early afternoon on Tuesday. Morning mist is anticipated in several central and southwestern provinces.

Weather forecasters predict a wet afternoon across Sri Lanka, with showers and thundershowers expected to develop at most locations after 1.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 15 October.
In advance of the afternoon rainfall, misty conditions are likely to persist during early morning hours in parts of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Uva provinces, according to the Department of Meteorology's forecast issued at 05.30 a.m.
The afternoon weather system is expected to affect the majority of the island, with residents and commuters advised to prepare for wet conditions. No severe weather warnings have been issued at this stage.
The forecast forms part of the department's regular daily weather bulletin for the region.
