Wild elephant successfully relocated to Terengganu national park

The male elephant, known as 'Sulong', was successfully transferred to Taman Negara Terengganu on September 1st, according to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan). The relocation operation involved coordination between wildlife officials, police personnel, and two trained elephants that assisted in guiding and managing the wild animal during the transfer. The use of domesticated elephants proved instrumental in ensuring the safety of both the wild elephant and the personnel involved in the operation. Taman Negara, Malaysia's oldest and largest national park, provides a suitable habitat for the relocated elephant away from human settlements. The move reflects ongoing efforts by Malaysian authorities to mitigate conflicts between wildlife and local communities, particularly in areas where elephant populations have increasingly ventured into populated zones in search of food and habitat.
