Wildlife officials continue push to relocate three tuskers from Virajpet

Virajpet: Wildlife officials in Karnataka are continuing their efforts to drive three tuskers away from human settlements in the Virajpet region and back into their natural forest habitat. The operation, which involves coordination between forest personnel and wildlife specialists, has been mounted to prevent potential conflicts between the elephants and local communities.

The tuskers had ventured into areas inhabited by humans, raising concerns among residents and prompting authorities to initiate the relocation drive. Officials are employing various methods to safely guide the animals away from populated zones while ensuring no harm comes to either the elephants or people in the vicinity.

The Virajpet region, located in Kodagu district, has witnessed periodic instances of wild elephant movements into human-dominated landscapes. Such incursions are typically driven by seasonal changes, habitat availability, and the animals' search for food sources.

Wildlife authorities stressed that the operation is being conducted with utmost care to protect the welfare of the tuskers while maintaining public safety.
